Once again, I've read a long series out of order.
This was book 10 of 11
Elizabeth has dealt with PPD. She thought she was going to harm her kids so she left. While she was "gone" she changed her mind and decided to head back. Since she caught a ride here and there, she needed to catch a ride back.
While on the way back, the gentleman she was riding with got in a car accident and was killed immediately. Elizabeth had massive injuries including loss of memory. Once she was recovered, she just hung around that area and lived.
Luke, her husband was forced to live life. Taking care of 2 babies, a house, a career. He is about to be hel on trial for her murder and he's got to do something. He hired a private investigator, who happens to be dating his sister to find his wife, whom he plans to divorce. The PI finds her and Luke makes his way to get her.
Once he explains the situation to Elizabeth, she starts building hope that she'll see the kids, Luke has other plans. He eventually comes around but the relationship between her daughter and her is severed. Her son loves her immediately.
Once Elizabeth tells what happened to her, Luke's stance on everything changes, his feelings that never really left, have boiled up and over again. He's trying to convince her she's good enough and can stay with him.
