Katy loses her mom right before their trip to Italy.

She heads to Italy alone, determined to see what her mom encountered there prior to her birth.
She actually dreams up her mother, who also gives up some secrets regarding the past
It was so wonderful that she was able to reconnect with her mother when she was a young woman, but also heartbreaking when she didn't "show up" for several days.
